Barolo Wine Region in Langhe area, Piedmont

If you are looking for a great Piedmontese red wine, you are in the right section. In fact, we have selected for you the best bottles of Barolo from the most important producers in the area, ideal for a dinner or an important gift. Barolo, a wine born in the Langhe from Nebbiolo in purity, is known throughout the world for its inimitable organoleptic characteristics.

The production areas of Barolo are those of the municipality of the same name, in addition to the territories of La Morra, Monforte, Serralunga d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Novello, Grinzane Cavour, Verduno, Diano d’Alba, Cherasco, and Roddi. According to the Enoteca Regionale, the best vintages of Barolo (defined exceptionally and characterized by five stars) are 1947, 1971, 1982, 1990, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2004.

The Barolo Wine Region Production Description

According to the Barolo production discipline, the wines to be offered for sale must be aged for at least three years, two of which in oak barrels. For the reserve Barolo version, the wine must be aged for at least five years, of which two are always used in wood.
Often called the “king of wines, the wine of kings” due to its proximity to the Savoy court (Prime Minister Camillo Benso Conti di Cavour personally promoted the production of this great Piedmontese red wine), Barolo has unparalleled characteristics. With an intense garnet color, the aromas of Barolo are reminiscent of red fruits, black cherries, dried roses, and spices, while in the mouth it is warm, enveloping and soft with darting tannins. It is difficult to say which is the maximum aging of a Barolo, but it is certain that after 5-6 years from when it is put on the market it can already be charming, to reach its peak between 10 years and 20 years. In reality, there are Barolos that far exceed this period of time, which have proved to be exceptional and of great truth. Among the great producers of Barolo, we have selected for you Clerico, Gaja, Oddero, Voerzio, Giacosa and many others, excellent names in enology that have made the history of the territory.
